I've done this photo taking challenge a few times before and it's always been fun. Over the course of a day, I'm taking photos from the time I wake up until I fall asleep. I find this kind of thing fascinating. The mundane, routine, seemingly boring little moments that make our normal everyday life important. I can only imagine how cool it would be to have a day in my grandmother's life documented this way, or even a day from my own childhood.
* Below are my photos and notes for my Day in the Life. I used both my DSLR and iPhone
6:00AM | Alarm clock goes off. Time to wake up my girls for school. Callie gets up right away but it always takes my other child a little bit longer to roll out of bed. Callie wants a couple pieces of cinnamon bread. I give her her daily dose of medicine.
6:11AM | McKenzie finally get up and pours herself a bowl of cereal. I then proceed with making lunches for the girls.
McKenzie wants a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I slice some strawberries and add a couple granola bars and a juice box. Callie wants just a peanut butter sandwich, some crackers, a granola bar and juice box. After Callie finishes eating and she's dressed, I let her play a game on my iPhone. Right now she's addicted to this game called "Crossy Road."
6:45AM | I drive the girls down the road to catch the morning bus. I let Callie continue to play her games.
6:53AM | Bus departs for school. It was a very cold and foggy morning.
7:09AM | I usually pour myself a bowl of cereal and then check e-mails and read a few blogs from my iPhone.
7:36AM | Folding sheets that were in the dryer from the previous night.
8:17AM | Morning shower.
8:40AM | Dishwasher temporarily out of service, so I'm washing by hand.
9:05AM | Start a load of laundry.
9:35AM | Vacuuming
10:39AM | Currently cloudy with light rain.
10:55AM | Folding more towels that just came out of the dryer.
11:05AM | Early lunch. In a sauce pan, I add one can of black beans, one can of corn, one can of diced tomatoes. Heat and serve over chips and top with cheese and sour cream.
12:00PM | Quick pedicure.
12:15PM | Mopping and sipping lemonaide.
12:45PM | Leave house to run some errands.
1:13PM | At the laundry mat washing and drying Callie's sleeping bag. She's leaving next week for an overnight trip to the Portland Zoo with her 4th grade class.
1:26PM | While the sleeping bag is washing, I walk across the street to the Starbucks that's inside Albertsons for an iced tea.
1:52PM | Still at laundry mat with sleeping bag in dryer. Sipping my ice tea and playing on my iPhone.
2:50PM | Arrive at Callie's school to pick her up.
Callie likes putting her favorite stuffed animal inside that blue purse and taking it to school. She either hangs her purse inside her cubby or behind her chair. This brings a lot of comfort as she likes to bring things to school that remind her of home.
3:10PM | At the high school waiting to pick up McKenzie.
Callie's reading one of her library books in the back seat while we wait for sister.
3:22PM | McKenzie puts her back pack in the trunk and then we head off to Mrs. Martin's for her 45 minute violin lesson. (She's just a few minutes away from the high school.)
3:30PM | Violin lesson starts.
Callie and I wait outside during sisters lesson. The Martin's cat comes over to say hello to Callie. These two have quite the connection. I call Callie the "cat whisperer."
It's really hard for my daughter to finish her school work when the cat decides to take a nap on her papers.
5:00PM | The girls and I arrive home.
5:30PM | I'm really hungry, so I snack on few chips.
5:35PM | McKenzie starts working on her school work.
5:42PM | I let Callie play with my phone after she has finished her school work. (note: this is usually the time when I start to loose my patience with both girls. They're usually bickering with each other and I need to remember to breath.)
Remembering to get myself in some of these photos.
6:00PM | Making has browns and waffles for dinner.
6:07PM | Kisses from dad.
6:26PM | Dinner is served.
7:17PM | McKenzie doesn't want me resting on the couch.
7:44PM | After she gets into her pajamas, I dished her up a small bowl of vanilla ice cream.
8:00PM | It's lights out for Callie.
8:06PM | Doing some research on the computer for an assignment. She's usually in bed around 10pm, but with track practice 4 days a week, she's been hitting the sheets around 10:30-11pm.
8:48PM | Enjoying a small bowl of vanilla ice cream with Kahlua poured over the top.
9:00PM | brushing teeth and getting ready for bed.
9:56PM | Lights out!
